Diocesan Board of Ministry
Tasks
- To have an overview of selection, training and Continuing Ministerial Education for those in ordained ministry and to advise the Bishop and the Synod accordingly.
- To be the Governing Body of the Norwich Ordained Local Ministry Scheme with responsibility for selection, training and Continuing Ministerial Education.
- To have responsibility, in partnership with the Readers Committee, for the training and ministry of Readers.
- To promote the development of Lay Ministry in the Diocese.
- To encourage vocations to lay and ordained ministry.
- To promote the development of Continuing Ministerial Education in the Diocese.
- To respond to best practice as commended for Ministry in the Church of England.
- To encourage and promote shared Ministry and Ministry teams throughout the Diocese.
- To engage actively with the governors of the Norwich Cathedral Institute.
- To work regionally and ecumenically in all matters wherever possible.
Membership
- A Chairman who is a member of the Bishop's Staff
- A Vice-Chairman who is a lay person nominated by the Bishop's Council
- The Secretary of the Readers' Committee
- One lay person elected by the Diocesan Synod
- One clergy person elected by Diocesan Synod
- Four persons nominated by the Bishop's Council to reflect the work of the Board
- Two members co-opted by the Board.

Meetings
The Board of Ministry meet at least four times a year.
Board of Studies
The Board of Ministry appoints a Board of Studies to monitor the quality of training and liaise with appropriate institutions for the accreditation of Reader and Ordained Local Ministry courses.
