Archdeacon of Lynn

Archdeacon Martin has lived in the Diocese with his wife Pauline and family since 1968.

He first worked in Norwich as a chemical engineer with May & Baker (now Aventis) as a design engineer, and then with Dow Chemical in King's Lynn, firstly as a process engineer and later as project manager and plant manager. He left the chemical industry in 1978 to train for ordained ministry at Westcott House, Cambridge and in 1980, following ordination, began a four year curacy at St Faith's, Gaywood in King's Lynn. He moved to Sheringham in 1984 where he served as Vicar until 1994 when he took up the post of Team Rector in the St Maraget Lowestoft Team.

In 1999 he was appointed Archdeacon of Lynn and serves as Bishop's Adviser for Hospital Chaplaincy. He chairs the parish finance group that monitors parish share receipts, advising on parish share policy. He chairs deanery assessors meetings and is also County Chaplain for the Scouts.
