Back to Church Sunday 2008
Last year, 130 parishes in our Diocese took part in Back to Church Sunday. Nationally, 6000 people came back to church on that day last year and about 15% have become regular members, while a further 3,000 are still in touch with their inviting churches. It works!
Back to Church Sunday 2008 is on Sunday 28th September. We are in continued negotiation with the national organizers about the need for undated materials for rural benefices (who may wish to hold a B2CS week). The 2008 materials being produced nationally are dated again this year, and so we have decided to use our own materials again, which are undated. You can find everything that you need at the link below, including a helpful summary and checklist to help you plan. If you decide to print off your own materials, please would you still let me know you’re taking part so that we get an overview of what’s happening. We can’t emphasize enough the need for PERSONAL INVITATION. Nationally it has been proved that B2CS works when someone personally invites a friend/colleague/neighbour to come with them. It doesn’t work when parishes simply do a mail shot. It’s the personal invitation that really does make the difference. Finally if you have a good news story from last year of someone who came back and stayed, please do let me know. It helps no end with the media side of things!
