Open Churches Week 2009
Saturday 1 August 2009 - Sunday 9 August 2009

Open Churches Week takes place from 1st - 9th August in churches all over the Diocese. It's an opportunity for everyone to revel in our wonderful historic churches.

It starts this year with a Classic Car Rally on the 1st August and The Annual Service at St Benet's Abbey on the 2nd August.

Open Churches Week celebrates the open and friendly werlcome that is given by churches in the Diocese of Norwich. It is an opportunity to see inside churches and to wonder at their buildings as well as their artefacts, and to remember that most of them were built by the local community to the Glory of God.  It is a time for local towns and villages to share their heritage with visitors in all kinds of different ways.

Booklets listing all the church taking part are available from local Tourist Information Centres across Norfolk, or you can request copies from the Diocese of Norwich (01603 880853 or janet.guy@norwich.anglican.org).
