Ministry in Local Context (Rural)
A MA module (part of the MA in Pastoral Theology) which can be taken as a stand alone unit for anyone who is qualified to work at Masters level.

It will be taught in the Anglican Cathedral Library, Norwich by Dr Jack Lawson,Training & Development Officer, East Anglia District, Methodist Church.  This module invites students to bring models of theological reflection and critique to bear on specific identitied local contexts of ministry - in this case rural.  It addresses issues of ministry in context and seeks to identify contextual descriptors and ethical issues and to move towards a theological understanding of these.

Participants' own experience of ministry and active engagement with specific contexts will comprise a substantial element of the material explored.   Key subjects are: 

   -   Understanding the changing face of rural society and economy
   -   Identifying the various agents of change in rural Britain and Northern Ireland
   -   Understanding economic and labour issues in the specified context
   -   Exploring attempts towards defining a theology and role for ministry in all of the above
   -   Identification and analysis of ethical issues
   -   Identification of key factors in the student's own context in relation to the learning on
       the module
